About Positively Healthy
As a group, our lives are a whole lot busier, and we’re heavier than ever. The proliferation and down right bombardment of convenience foods has helped contribute to the obesity problems so many suffer from along with a all the other issues that arise from being overweight and the impact they have on our health.
In 2008 I was over 380 pounds and I needed help. In April of 2009 I had bariatric surgery to help get the amount of food I ate under control but it has been through learning healthy eating and exercise that I am able to keep myself at a healthy weight, and prevent going back to the unhealthy state I was in. I have always been an avid cook, and I still love to eat, but now I gain as much pleasure from cooking healthy foods as I do from eating them, and it’s a passion I hope to share with others.
Unfortunately, the word “diet” has become synonymous with “deprive”. I don’t believe in going on a diet, instead I try to teach others about maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. As a holistic health coach, I do this not only by working with you on your diet, but by helping you look at your life as a whole, because your health isn’t just about what we put in our bodies. And even if it’s in an area that I can’t directly help you with, I’ll help you find the best person to help you out - even if the best person for the job is yourself.
I do this through individual and personalized evaluation in order to help you set some solid, realistic and attainable goals for yourself and sharing knowledge and ideas and offering encouragement to help you reach them, and most importantly - by listening to you. Sure, I’ll be able to help you with think from grocery shopping and stocking your kitchen, to meal plans, recipes and cooking lessons, but first and foremost I will listen to you; your goals, your desires, your fears, your dreams - so we can work together to find the best path so you too can become positively healthy.
