Goat Creek Trail & Cathedral Falls

Today’s hike was a quick trip to an area on the north edge of the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. I’ve been there a couple other times in the last year, and it’s a fun hike with a lot of little water crossings, tumbling creeks and one spectacular waterfall, Cathedral Falls. Cathedral Falls tumbles 248 feet and is fueled by rain and snow melt run-off, so spring is really the best time to check it out. And with our mild winter and lots of rain in recent weeks… this weekend things were flowing full bore.

We didn’t go to far, just under 3 miles in and then back. Our elevation change was pretty minor as well, but the trail we were on does continue climb up to Goat Mountain. So come tag along as we hike in, grab some lunch and head back out again. There’s photos at the end of the video if you’re just looking for a quick look.
