Deception Pass
Deception Pass, an area that got it’s name from Captain George Vancouver in 1792, was today’s destination. The trip ended up a couple miles shorter than the originally planned 9 miles because we just got too swept up in all the beautiful views. The Pass is a strait that separates Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands, connecting Skagit Bay with the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

HEY! I’ve been there! It was the one time in my life I saw a Bald Eagle relatively up close in personal. Long story short, this is in my “before-weight loss days” — so I was tasked to sit on the beach and baby sit everyone’s stuff. I had THREE CAMERAS around my neck. Yes, three. And along comes this Eagle — right in front of me — just over the water…with a massive salmon in its talons. The beach fell silent as everyone beheld the majestic sight…and I didn’t get a single photo. LOL. I plan to return there this year…now that I can actually hike down the stairs without having a heart attack. Thanks for sharing. Great memories!
Let me know when you’re up here!
