Already looking forward to next year…

Wow.

Once again, this has been an wonderful, inspirational and humbling weekend.

The Your Weight Matters/Obesity Action Coalition convention has grown so much since I attended the second annual convention in Phoenix, two years ago. Each time, I’ve come away, affirmed that my decision to do what I can to help further the cause of this organization was something I just had to do.

The power I have to do something positive, may seem small at first glance, but that does not lessen the responsibility I have to continue to try and do so. There’s a quote I found displayed on the walls outside one of the attractions in the Land section of Epcot…

“I may be only one person, but I can be one person who makes a difference.”

To me, this fits in with my over arching feeling that we all have that balance of power and responsibility in our life. We can each make a difference.

Where the OAC comes in, is taking these individual voices and raising them in a chorus… because while we can each make a difference on our own, imagine the impact we can have together. Individually we each have a sphere of influence. Together, those spheres combine, connect and overlap in ways that allow that power to grow exponentially. And it is our combined responsibility to continue to affect positive changes.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Margaret Mead

I will have more to share about these last few days in the near future, include a lot of audio interviews I did with visitors to, vendors for and the people behind the annual convention, so look for it to start showing up very soon.
