Upcoming Support Group: Relationships and Weight Loss

Due to some technical issues, we’ve rescheduled our visit with a great guest, Merrill Littleberry. We will be meeting on Wednesday, February 13 at our usual time of 8-9:30 PM Eastern (5-6:30 PM Pacific).

Merrill is a healthcare professional in the field of mental and physical health. She believes mental and physical health are equally important, stating one cannot function optimally without the other. She is known as “Vitamin M,” a motivational speaker, psychotherapist, and personal trainer along with many other roles. She hopes the role she will be remembered by is a dedicated advocate who continually discovered ways to improve the lives of others.

This last year, Merrill gave a talk at the Your Weight Matters convention about the physiological, behavioral and emotional impacts that obesity has on the various relationships in our lives, with a focus on those more intimate ones.

If you would like some additional information on this topic, I highly recommend checking out the book XL Love: How the Obesity Crisis Is Complicating America’s Love Life, by Sarah Varney. Sarah is a senior health policy correspondent with Kaiser Health News and has written extensively for NPR, the New York Times, Washington Post and more.

In her book, she explores the impact weight and weight loss has on our relationships, sex lives and more. She looks at groups from pre-teens through adults, those still dealing with excess weight and those who have lost weight.
