Mowich Lake to Spray Falls and Eunice Lake

Sometimes itā€™s the journey, sometimes itā€™s the destination. And sometimes itā€™s not the destination you were shooting for.

We started out with plans to start at Mowich Lake and head up to Tolmie Lookout (I talk briefly about my first trip up there in the video). When we got there, the group decided to go check out Spray Falls first, turning what would have been a 7 or so mile hike to 10-11.The elevation gain overall wasnā€™t much… only about 1000ft difference between starting and ending point, but if look at the elevation profile, we had some steep inclines at times. Given the overall pace and added miles, only a couple in our group ended up making it all the way to the lookout. The rest of us stopped for lunch on a rock by the shore of Eunice Lake.

I guess it just means Iā€™ll have to plan another trip up there sometime in order to make it to the lookout again. Of course, I also want to venture past Spray Falls to Spray Park, itā€™s supposed to be a great place for checking out alpine wild flowers. So… maybe an overnight at the campground so I can do both is in order?

This one can be a bit of a drive to get to, and the season for it can be short… roads just opened in time for the 4th of July weekend, and likely will close again by the end of October. If you can make it up, you wonā€™t be alone, but it will be worth it.
